Yes, it’s that time of year again. The big day of L-O-V-E is upon us And even as temperatures drop, lovers the world over are just starting to heat up. Boxes of chocolate are flying off the shelves and FTD is working over time, but there are other ways to honor and celebrate this day of amoure without feeling like you stepped out of a Hallmark card.
Valentine’s Day originally had it’s origins in the Roman pagan holiday of Lupercalia Day. It was a festival of sacrifice, fertility and making whoopee. The Christians were having none of it, so over time it was renamed Valentine’s Day after Saint Valentine. However  many incarnations it has had up to the present day…underneath the piles of roses, champagne and chocolate covered cherries the underlying message is sill the same…. Honor Thy Mojo!
Ancient cultures have known this from time immemorial and what better way to fan the flames of your own fire then with the aphrodisiacs of the Gods…or simply put… you need look no further than your own backyard. There are a whole slew of herbs, seeds, nuts and flowers that will knock your socks off and you need go no further than your own health food store or kitchen spice rack.
